Founded in 1983 by volunteers, we rescue, foster, provide financial support for animals, and advocate for Animal Rights.
What is the
ANIMAL ASSISTANCE SOCIETY?
The Animal Assistance Society of the Niagara Region is a registered non-profit charity dedicated to preventing the suffering of animals. Operated by volunteers only, the AAS receives no government funding. We raise all the funds required for our programs.
WHAT DOES THE AAS DO?

Advocates spaying and neutering as an effective means of curbing the number of unwanted animals.

Recognizes that the costs of spaying and neutering may be financially difficult for some pet owners and share expenses whenever possible.

Rescues animals in distress, providing veterinary care and shelter as required.

Finds caring foster and permanent homes for as many strays and unwanted animals as possible.

Assists financially, whenever possible, with sick or injured animals to alleviate suffering.

Works with Petsmart Adoption Centre in St. Catharines to find permanent homes for animals

Advocates for cats to stay inside. Cats who stay indoors have longer and healthier lifespans than those who are left to roam outdoors
FUNDRAISING
Bingo’s
We volunteer at Delta Bingo in St. Catharines several times each month.
Fundraisers
We have many different types of fundraising events throughout the year.
Yard Sales
We have several yard sales over the summer.
Comedy Night
Silent Auction & Bazaars
The Silent Auction & Bazaar is our largest fundraiser and it is held the first Saturday in November of each year!
Raffles
We have 2 major Raffles twice a year.
Trivia Night
We have a Trivia Night once a year in the Spring
